The ability to run an effective recruitment campaign should not depend on the size of an organisation's budget. Charities should have a fair opportunity to reach skilled, experienced and committed candidates.
About Charity Jobs NI

Our story
Built from first-hand experience
Charity Jobs NI grew from first-hand experience of both the charity sector and recruitment. Our founders have worked within charities, volunteered with charitable organisations and served as trustees, alongside extensive professional recruitment experience supporting organisations to attract, assess and appoint the right people.
That means Charity Jobs NI was shaped by an understanding of recruitment from several perspectives at once: as charity employees, volunteers, trustees, recruiters and people responsible for helping organisations make important appointment decisions.
Through those experiences we saw the strengths of the sector—but also the challenges. Charities are often recruiting people with the same specialist skills sought by much larger corporate and public-sector employers, yet doing so with smaller budgets, limited internal resources and less access to the major recruitment platforms.
For smaller teams, running a thorough campaign can mean balancing advertising, candidate communication, applications, interviews and selection alongside an already demanding workload. Advertising widely is expensive too: relying on a single platform can limit the range of candidates reached, while buying advertising separately across several leading job boards places real strain on charity budgets.
We believed charities deserved a better option.
Charity Jobs NI was created to help level the playing field by giving charities access to specialist recruitment expertise, wider candidate reach and robust recruitment solutions at a cost that recognises the financial realities of the sector.
Why we exist
Because every appointment matters
Every pound spent by a charity matters. Organisations have a responsibility to use their resources carefully—but that should never mean compromising on the quality of their recruitment.
The people a charity appoints directly influence the quality of its services, its culture, its ability to grow and, ultimately, the impact it has in the communities it supports. Recruitment is not an administrative exercise; it is an investment in the organisation's future.
Charities deserve professional candidate reach, recruitment expertise and robust selection processes—designed around the budgets, responsibilities and internal capacity of the sector rather than corporate recruitment prices.
That is why we offer different levels of support depending on the organisation, role and resources available. A smaller charity recruiting its first employee needs something different from a larger organisation running a structured search for a senior leader, and neither should be sold the same standard package.
Our purpose is not simply to help organisations fill vacancies. It is to help each charity make informed, confident appointments and build stronger, more sustainable organisations.
Our mission
“To make high-quality recruitment fair, affordable and accessible to charities across Northern Ireland, while championing the charity sector as a place where people can build meaningful and rewarding careers.”
A beacon for charity careers
Shining a light on careers that make a difference
Charity Jobs NI is intended to be more than a place where vacancies are advertised. We want it to be a beacon for charity careers and career pathways across Northern Ireland—a visible, trusted place where people can discover the breadth of opportunities available within the sector.
Many people do not realise how broad the sector is, how professionally diverse its workforce has become or how transferable their existing experience may be. Someone working in finance, marketing, human resources, technology, operations or business development may have skills that could make a significant contribution to a charity.
Through our jobs board, candidate resources, sector content and the Charity Careers & Volunteer Job Fair, we help more people find pathways into work that creates a positive impact—and help charities communicate their purpose, culture and impact so candidates can see not only the vacancy, but the difference they could help make.

What we believe
The principles behind how we work
Every pound spent by a charity must be carefully considered and justified. Our services should provide genuine value and help organisations use their recruitment budgets effectively.
Charities of different sizes should be able to access the tools, expertise and support they need — not only organisations with large internal teams or significant budgets.
Affordable recruitment should not mean lowering standards. Charities should be supported to run thorough, professional and fair processes that give them confidence in their appointment decisions.
Our services are shaped around the realities, challenges and values of Northern Ireland's charity, voluntary and community sectors, where recruitment can involve different priorities and responsibilities.
Recruitment is ultimately about people. We believe in practical advice, honest communication and personal support for both organisations and candidates.
Our wider ambition
Building something bigger than a jobs board
Our ambition is to build a trusted home for charity recruitment and careers across Northern Ireland: helping charities make stronger appointments, while supporting the long-term development of the sector's workforce.
We want more organisations to feel confident running robust recruitment campaigns, and more candidates to see the charity sector as a place where they can build a meaningful professional future.
Strong charities need strong people. Whether an organisation is advertising its first vacancy, recruiting a senior leader, strengthening its board or introducing future candidates to its work, we are here to help.
