Cookie policy
Cookies and similar storage are small files kept by your browser. This page explains exactly what this site uses, what is switched off, and how to change your choice.

Essential cookies and storage
We use a small amount of strictly necessary storage to make the site work. This includes remembering your cookie choice so the banner is not shown on every visit, keeping your session working while you move between pages, and protecting forms against spam and abuse.
Your cookie choice is stored in your browser's local storage as a versioned, timestamped record, so this browser knows which choice applies. It stays until you clear your browser data, change your preference, or we publish a new version of our analytics arrangements. This storage cannot be switched off, because the site relies on it and it is not used for tracking.
What is stored on your device
This is the cookie and browser storage currently in use on this site. All of it is strictly necessary; nothing listed here is used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
| Name | Type & provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __cf_bm | Cookie set by Cloudflare, our network and security provider. Sent with the Secure and HttpOnly flags, so it cannot be read by scripts in the page. | Bot management: helps distinguish automated traffic from real visitors and protects the site against abuse. Strictly necessary. | Approximately 30 minutes |
| cjni-cookie-consent-v1 | Browser local storage set by this site. Not a cookie, so it is never sent to our servers with page requests. | Records your analytics choice, when you made it and which version of our analytics arrangements it applies to, so the banner is not shown on every visit. Strictly necessary. | Persists in this browser until you change your choice, clear your browser data, or we publish a new version of our analytics arrangements |
Other organisations’ services, such as the jobs board on its own domain, set their own cookies under their own notices.
Aggregate hosting statistics
Our website hosting platform includes built-in visitor statistics, and this reporting is currently active. It starts automatically on published sites and gives us aggregate figures such as pages viewed, referring source, device category, a broad country indication derived from your browser time zone, and counts and duration of visits.
The hosting provider's documentation states that this measures overall traffic, does not build individual visitor profiles and does not follow visitors across separate visits. It is platform-level reporting we do not configure per visitor, and it is separate from the optional analytics controlled by the “Accept all” and “Reject all” buttons on the cookie banner.
Optional analytics: not currently enabled
No Google Analytics or other optional analytics script is currently installed on this site, and none loads whatever choice you make. The “Accept all” and “Reject all” control on the cookie banner applies to those optional analytics only; it does not affect the essential storage above or the aggregate hosting statistics.
If we introduce optional analytics in future — Google Analytics is the service we would be most likely to use — it will only load after you have actively accepted analytics through the cookie control, and we will publish the exact cookie names, purposes and durations on this page before it is activated.
Introducing analytics, or materially changing the provider or configuration, resets any preference you have already saved. The cookie control will appear again and ask for a fresh choice, after the updated provider and cookie details have been published here.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
- Use here or in the site footer to reopen the control and change your decision at any time.
- Rejecting or withdrawing consent stops any non-essential cookies being set from that point on; essential storage remains so the site keeps working.
- Clearing cookies and site data in your browser also resets your choice, and the banner will appear again on your next visit.
- Most browsers let you block cookies entirely, though some features may then break.
Other websites and embedded services
Our job board, event registration and any embedded content are provided by other organisations on their own domains. This policy does not cover them: once you follow a link to those services, their own cookie and privacy notices apply and you may need to set your preferences again there.
